Use the Aquapac Small Whanganui Electronics Case 348 to Take Pictures and Videos Underwater
The Aquapac Small Whanganuo Waterproof Case is great for taking photo and videos underwater or anywhere where you need to protect the device from the elements. To assist in obtaining the best photos and videos thru the case, the windows of the case are composed of Aquapac's LENZFLEX material, which is designed to be optically clear to facilitate optimal viewing and underwater photography & video capture. The below is a sample of a video taken underwater with this feature.
Case is rated as "Submersible" and Waterproof up to 15 Feet in Water!
The Aquaclip® sealing system used on this Aquapac has been independently tested by the world-famous Engineering Research Center at Imperial College, London. The case has been guaranteed waterproof to the international standard IPX8, which is as waterproof as you can get. This case has been rated to be completely submersible underwater to 15 feet (5m) for half an hour, keeping your electronics safe and dry.
In-House Waterproof Testing
During manufacture Aquapac tests their submersible cases in their own pressure chamber for 5 minutes at 1.0 bar. This is equivalent to 33ft (10.1m) of water. Aquapac also does a simple, manual squeeze-in-a-basin test. Sometimes it’s the real-life tests that really count!
The Aquapac Whanganui Large Electronics Case’s material is coated with solid layers of Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) plastic material that is PVC-free. The TPU material is also UV-stabilized in order to resist the material from breaking down or being discolored by sunlight. All seams of the case feature high-frequency seams and are then sealed with hot-melt tape in order to form a super-strong bond. This in-depth manufacturing process is done to help keep out water.
The bag’s material Aquapac has classified this bag as “submersible” and is designed to protect the bags contents from temporary immersion. This certification enables this case will withstand immersion for up to 5 seconds to a depth of 3 feet / 1 meter.
Due to the bag being completely watertight when sealed, the Aquapac case is designed to float safely if dropped in the water.
Includes Handy Carry Lanyard
The Aquapac 348 comes with a handy lanyard, but if you do happen to lose your grip on the Small Whanganui Electronics Case, it will conveniently float on the water surface with the device inside.
Why the Funny “Whanganui” Name
The Aquapac Large Whanganui Electronics Case is named after the Whanganui River, a major river in the North Island of New Zealand. For that kind of environment, you really need a case that will meet the challenge for keeping your gear safe and dry.

Dimensions: Fits items 6 inches tall by 4 inches wide
It’s a bit like taking a photograph through your window at home.First of all the window needs to be as clean as possible. Even with a clean window you may notice some reflection, but the closer you hold the camera lens to the window, the less the reflection. Similarly our cases give best results with the lens window tight against the camera lens.
Try to avoid flash photography but if you do need to use the flash make sure that the case is tight over the flash so the light doesn’t reflect back into the lens. Keep the lens window clean and avoid scratching it. Try to look after it the same way you look after your camera lens.
Taking Photos Underwater
It takes a bit of practice and a little luck to get really good underwater photos – please don’t think that every shot you take is going to make the cover of Sport Diver magazine. You need strong sunshine and clear water. The middle of the day is best, when the sun is at its highest. Best results will be just below the surface. Light disappears quickly as you go deeper, as do colors (one of the advantages of digital cameras is that you can retouch your photos afterwards to replace colors lost underwater).
Underwater photography warning!: Capacitive touchscreens don't work underwater, so you may find it difficult to take photos underwater. To take video underwater, simply start filming above the waterline.

Even clean water is full of microorganisms and other particles. The less water between you and your subject, the less difference this will make and therefore the clearer your shots are likely to be. Wide lens and close up is the secret. Click here to see the Aquapac Flickr group for many customer pictures.
Can you really hear through the AquaPac Waterproof Case?
You should be able to use your phone or radio handset normally inside an Aquapac. There is very little loss of volume, since sound waves travel straight through the plastic. This below is a review demonstrating the use of an audio recorder inside an Aquapac case:
Does the AquaPac Waterproof Case Float?
In almost all instances yes. The Aquaclip creates a hermetic seal – once closed the case is airtight. Most electronic equipment is full of air. So it’s not so much the air round the outside of your phone or camera or whatever, but the air actually inside it that makes it float.
If you put lead bars or gold ingots inside a case and carefully squeeze out all the air before sealing, the Aquapac may not float. Sorry. NOTE: Please test your individual case with contents to check if it will float.
Can the AquaPac be used in the Hot Tub or Sauna?
Around +100ºF (+40ºC) the hard plastic of the Aquaclip starts to soften. The case could therefore leak if submerged in a very hot bath. As long as the case is not held underwater, use in the bath or hot tub is fine. Please note that an Aquaclip left in the hot sun will instantly revert to its normal state if dropped in water.
Why should you consider the AquaPac Line of Waterproof Bags?
Of course there will always be people out there offering you products which are superficially similar to ours. Before you opt for a cheaper alternative, I’d just ask you to consider one thing. Do they stand behind their products the way we do? For a clear illustration of what makes Aquapac stand out from the crowd, check out their Full 5-Year Warranty. We don’t think you’ll find anything out there to beat it.
