CarrySafe 100 Slash-Proof Steel Reinforced Strap
Slash proof camera security straps were designed for a reason. People value their camera gear. Many photographers (especially those who travel internationally) are keenly aware of the slash and run thieves, especially those who lerk in crowded areas. In some parts of the world, thieves specialize in slashing straps from the rear of their victim while simulatneously yanking down on the wearer's's camera and running away with it.
That’s where this security feature comes into play. Sewn into the camera security strap are the two slash-proof, high tensile stainless steel wires which run through the entire 60 inch length of the strap.
The steel wire running continuously through the construction of the camera security strap, makes the strap nearly cut proof.
Embedded into the strap are 1.5 mm, 7x7 high-tensile stainless steel wire (seven strands and each strand comprises of seven wires) which are woven between the top and bottom layers of the entire length of the strap's outer material. While this steel wire camera security system is strong, it remains flexible enough so it is not detectable or oncomfortable when worn.
The steel wire run as an uninterrupted loop through the construction of the strap make it difficult to be slashed quickly. The steel wire is strong, but flexible enough so that they are not detectable when worn.
Snatch-Proof Security
The CarrySafe 100 camera security strap features the innovative snatch-proof security feature.
On each end, the camera security strap has user-friendly quick-release connectors which allow the strap to hook around a secure fixture to prevent theft when not around your neck.
An example of its use would be if you were to sit down to eat with your camera. You would simply loop the security strap around your chair or table. If a thief were to grab the camera or strap, they would also have to take with them the table or chair, making it very difficult for the opportunistic thief (the attached case is not included with the CarrySafe 100 shown).
CarrySafe 100 Camera Connection Connectors
Most standard camera straps have simple webbing straps which just loop in and lock with a plastic anti-slider, which is a source of many cameras’ falling to ground and/or becoming easily undone by sneak thieves.
To combat these issues, the CarrySafe 100 incorporates a “camera connector security system” was updated and improved in 2009 (make sure you don’t buy an older version sold by other suppliers – which may be why they are sold at a lesser price). The security features of camera connectors are as follows:
New for 2009, the webbing that connects the camera to the strap was improved to a new stronger “belt-like” webbing design. A great “user feature” is that the ends of the straps, the part that you would push through the camera's strap lugs, are cut in a triangular shape, making it much easier to attach them to your camera.
The CarrySafe 100 camera connector was also improved in this new version. The old style chip which holds the strap to the camera webbing connector was replaced from plastic to hardened zinc metal alloy which is powder coated to make them highly scratch resistant.
The newly engineered clips are spring loaded, quick-release type, and designed to prevent the camera from accidentally coming detached from the strap – a very familiar problem with typical camera straps sold on the market today.
The connector features a "lock / unlock" latch on the D-ring, which is a feature not found on other straps. Many photographers say that this is a great feature not be overlooked.
This feature also allows the CarrySafe 100 tcamera security strap o be used as a shoulder strap for camera and other cases or carry bags with universal hook connectors.
Sleeve Cover Protectors
The CarrySafe 100 camera security strap also has two neoprene sleeve cover protectors (one on each end) which slide over the spring loaded anchor clips.
These protectors cover the camera strap quick release anchor clips from accidental opening by a passing object, or on purpose by the svelte hands of “sneak thieves.”
The hollow sleeves are four inches long and can be slid up and down the lower ends of the strap. The ends of the sleeves are elastic which allow for them to maintain their position when slid over the security connectors.
The detachable anchors on the CarrySafe 100 can also be used as shoulder straps for camera cases as well with universal hook connectors.
Neck Pad
A thick grip is stitched into the back of the neoprene strap. The neck strap is designed with “breath-ability” vents, which help keep the neck pad dry from perspiration build up.
Additionally the neck pad is cushioned. Th e neck pad is 10 inches long and at its widest point, two inches wide (the neck pad is bone shaped).
Adjustability
Each security camera strap has two slip adjusters which allow the camera strap to be adjusted up to 60 inches. Additionally, the camera connectors have slip adjusters which limits the amount of play between the camera strap connectors.
Material
The strap material is made from durable black nylon which is soft to the touch.
