The TourSafe Handbag is the largest of the TourSafe line and features all four of PacSafe’s patented anti-theft security features. Each of these security features are vital to protecting the handbag from theft of pilferage.
The following is an overview of each of these features and their benefits:
eXomesh® Slashguard in lower front and bottom panels
Google the “purse slashing” and you will see numerous pages which talk about thieves who specialize in using razor blades to slice open the backs or bottoms of purses and backpacks without the knowledge of their owners. Many travelers cannot fathom this occurring, not alone how a thief can accomplish this task without their knowledge. Additionally, the frequency of “bag slicing’ was noted on the United States Department of State – OSAC Travel Advisory Reports. The following is a small portion of the Government’s web posting, as reported by travellers to our US Consulate and Embassy. Note that this is just one country quoted, however you will find this same problem has been reported in numerous cities around the world.
“US Department of State - OSAC Travel Advisory - Pick-Pocketing - Well-organized pickpocket rings are a continual problem in Italy. Generally, pickpockets work in small groups of two or three individuals. One or two individuals distract the victim while another thief comes from behind and snatches the wallet or cuts a woman’s purse and steals the contents. The most common type of pick-pocketing involves a woman’s purse being cut, generally where the zipper meets the fabric, or the slashing of the interior pocket of a man’s jacket or even the front pants pocket. Other popular methods involve the pickpocket simply colliding with the victim and snatching the wallet or having an accomplice drop items at the feet of the victim to create a distraction. When the helpful victim bends down to assist in picking up the items, a second thief comes from behind and commits the theft. In order to protect a purse from “purse slashers” The TourSafe Handbag includes the PacSafe patented eXomesh Slashguard feature. A layer of stainless steel wire mesh is encased in the lower section of the bag to prevent contents of the bag from falling out when cut.
The security mesh is sandwiched between the inside and outside fabric of the purse. The mesh is extremely flexible and is virtually undetectable.

Slashproof Adjustable Shoulder Strap
As the Department of State Travel Advisory commented above, purse slashers target both the body and the straps of purses. Think how easy it is for a thief to cut the purse strap from behind when worn. Even if you began to detect the odd feeling of the purse falling, by the time a traveller were to react and turn around, the “17 year-old track star thief” would be half-way down the train station platform. Sewn and embedded into each TourSafe handbag is stainless steel wire to prevent slash and grab theft.

This feature also is a great benefit when the purse is set down on and the detachable shoulder strap and snatchproof anchor is utilized.
If a thief were to try and grab the purse off a chair, the steel cable embedded within the shoulder strap will provide additional strength for the strap so it will stay secured to the chair. A fabric purse strap without the steel cable is more vulnerable and will easily be ripped from the location where it is attached to the purse body.

The shoulder strap is fully adjustable. The strap can be extremely shortened allowing it to be carried as a hand held bag, or lengthened to its maximum length of 48 inches which would allow for it to be worn in its most secure position, around the shoulder, and across the body.
For added comfort the shoulder strap of the TourSafe included a 6 inch long by 2 inch wide pad which is used for added comfort. This pad is removable by unsnapping two metal snaps that are underneath.

The shoulder strap is finished with brushed nickel metal finish buckles and security clips.

You can’t carry your handbag all the time. Many purse thefts occur when its owner sets it down while they are sitting down or otherwise distracted -until now you had few options to prevent its theft.
The TourSafe Handbag includes a built-in snatchproof anchor clip which allows the shoulder strap to be detached from the body of the purse, then routed around a stationary object.
Typically, the TourSafe Handbag would be wrapped around a chair back or around a table leg, and then secured back to purse.
This ingenious feature is very low profile, and gives someone the option to use when dining or relaxing.

Tamperproof Zippers
One of the most common types of purse theft involves a thief sliding their hand into a purse and removing a wallet or other contents.
The TourSafe Handbag features dual “tamperproof zippers,” which allow the main zippered compartment to “lock down” when needed. Street thieves, many being women and teenagers are very adept in this style of pickpocketing.

Inside Organizational Features - Main Compartment
The TourSafe Handbag is the largest handbag of the TourSafe line. Its design allows it to used for the day or multi-day trips with its uniquely design that maximizes its internal storage. The following is a synopsis of the bag’s organization features of the main compartment.

Padded Electronic Gadget Pockets - 2
These pockets are great for holding cell phones, iPods, or other electronic items. The pocket is 4 inches wide, 5 inches deep, but can hold items up to 7 inches in height. This is an “open top” style slide-in type pocket.
Credit Card Slots
Four card slots allow for quick and organized access of business, credit, or identification cards.
Pen Holders
Two slide-in pen holders allow for quick access of writing implements.
Large Internal Zippered Pockets
Located within the purse are two zippered pockets that are great for securing passports, tickets, or other items that demand an additional security layer. On one side (inside the main compartment) is the larger compartment hold items 5 inches tall by 10 inches wide. On the other side is the second pocket which is slightly smaller and holds items 5 inches tall by 8 inches wide.
Built-In Key FOB Holder
Included in the smaller inside zippered pocket is a permanently sewn-in Key FOB. This quick detach clip device is great for providing “quick access” to an extra set of keys. Almost everyone has had to search their purse in an attempt to find their “extra key” and only finding it when they dump all of the bags contents out – problem solved.
Outside Organization
Large Slide-in Pocket
Located on the outside back of the TourSafe Handbag is one large slide-in pocket.
This is a great pocket for carrying maps or other thin objects that do not demand extra security.

Material
The PacSafe TourSafe Handbag is made from Grosgrain, which is a tightly woven fabric with narrow horizontal ridges. The material is very sturdy and has a natural crispness that allows the bag to keep its shape. The outward appearance of the material tends to be slightly formal, however is very comfortable in a casual setting.
The inside material of the bag is a brightly reflective Lilac color that aids in locating items in dark environments.
Care of Material
The TourSafe Handbag is easy to care for and clean. Use mild detergent and soft hand cloth to clean and air dry.
