What are all of these Plugs and Adapters? What does all of this stuff mean?
What are Travel Adapters?
A Travel Plug Adapter is simply a connector that changes the plug shape to match the electrical outlet. It does not change the voltage or electrical output in any way. If you know that the plug shape is the only difference between your equipment and the electrical system you are planning to use, then an adapter is all you need.
What are Travel Plug Adapters?
Plug adapters are devices that allow you to plug a flat-pinned (North American) plug into a round-pinned (European/Asian) outlet. Adapters do not change voltage. You need a converter/transformer to change electrical voltage. Adapters change the shape of the plug.
What is Wattage?
The Travelon Worldwide Adapter and USB Charger is rated for 750 watts. Wattage is the amount of electricity used by a device. You need to know the wattage of the device in order to get the right Adapter.
Most devices have a label showing the wattage. If the wattage is not listed on the label, the voltage and amperage usually are listed and can be used to figure out the wattage using a simple formula. Multiply the voltage by the amperage (amps or A) to calculate the wattage.
Example: An appliance labeled with a voltage of 110 and amperage of 1.5 is 165 watts (110 x 1.5 = 165 Watts).
Travelon Universal Adapter – For Over 150 Countries
Out of the five primary adapter prong configurations used throughout the world, the Travelon Universal Adapter is compatible with four of them and works in more than 150 countries. The adapter unit can be separated to reveal three different adapters. The two pins of the American-style Adapter can simply be "twisted" to a slanted position to get the typical adapter for Australia and New Zealand. Between them, these three adapters cater to the world’s most common adapter plugs.
The only adapter configuration it doesn’t work with is the three round-pin adapter plug used mainly in South Africa and India.
What Are Dual-voltage Appliances?
Electricity in North America runs at 110/120 volts, while in the majority of countries outside of North America it runs at 220/240 volts.
Dual Voltage Appliances accept both 110v and 220v, so all you need is a Travelon Universal Adapter to make your plug fit in the wall. You don’t need a voltage converter. Appliances that are made for travel (travel hair dryers, travel irons, etc.) are almost always dual voltage.
The following appliances are nearly always dual voltage:
Laptop Computer Battery Chargers
Camera Battery Chargers
Cell Phone Chargers
IPod Chargers
On every electrical appliance there is an indications panel with information etched on it. This will tell you if your appliance is dual voltage.
Dual Voltage appliances will say 110/220 VAC, or 120~240 VAC. This means it accepts both 110 volts and 220 volts.
Single Voltage appliances will just say 110 VAC or 120 VAC
NOTE: For laptops, cameras, cell phone chargers, and other battery chargers, the indications panel is found on the charger itself.
The below chart gives you an idea of the plug configuration that you will be able to use. Note that the below plugs are for illustration purposes only.

What the adapter configuration will not work with
