General Bag Construction - Fabric

With over two years in design work, PacSafe spared no expense to make this bag the most secure multi-use bag duffel bag on the market today. To many, the manner in which the bag is constructed makes if fall into the “prosumer” market, which is evidenced by the superior workmanship put into the bag.

The DuffelSafe’s primary fabric is a high performance, heavy duty, abrasion resistant; rip stop ballistic nylon, which has a denier rating of 900 x 600. This material is made to deliver durability, and protection and less weight. The overall texture of the fabric is a fine weave, making it water resilient.

Due to the manner in which the bag is constructed, the DuffelSafe easily maintains its shape, and is designed to carry heavy items without typical bottom bag sag problems. However, the bag can be easily folded onto itself for easy storage if needed.

Due to the overall construction of the DuffelSafe bag, it maintains its overall form factor which helps it maintain the shape of the bag much more efficiently when carrying heavy loads. However, if required, the bag can be folded down on itself so it can be easily packed.

The bag has several zippers which provide additional security. The main compartment’s security lid is secured with two dual-tracking heavy-duty zippers which can be locked together. This zipper is provided additional protection by a 1 inch protective zipper cover which protects the zipper’s teeth and zipper slider from external snagging. The heavy-duty zippers are logo’d with the PacSafe brand.

Airport Friendly

When the DuffelSafe was designed, special consideration was given to make sure the bag would conform to airlines “carry-on” regulations. Due to its flexible design, the DuffelSafe will pass through all TSA Screening Station “sizing templates” which are commonly placed in front of numerous screening stations around the world.

Anti-Theft Features

The DuffelSafe primary responsibility is to protect the bag's contents from theft when left unattended. This is accomplished by a combination of three, unique, built-in security features which are:

• The top lid of the DuffelSafe can securely lock and keep the Duffel Safe’s contents secure. This is accomplished by utilizing Pac-Safe’s patented locking device system, which includes a 30mm brass padlock .
  
• The second security feature is also unique. A built in 4 mm, heavy duty, high-tensile stainless steel cable (which zips neatly away when not in use), is used to secure the Duffel Safe to a secure fixture. By deploying this steel cable, the bag is prevented from being carried away by a professional or casual thief (See Anti-Theft Features page for additional information and specifications).
  
• The third feature provides a secure outer fabric which is specifically designed to thwart “bag slashing”. This occurs when a thief finds a regular bag or backpack cabled to an immoveable object, but steals from the bag by simply slashing the outside with a knife to remove the bags contents.

This type of theft is prevented due to the slash proof construction of the DuffelSafe bag. Laminated between duffel bag’s inner and outer protective layers is a patented, slash proof, high-tensile stainless steel mesh called eXomesh. eXomesh is specifically designed to keep the bag’s contents secure from bag slashing. eXomesh is difficult, if nearly impossible to cut with a standard knife, and is not found on any other bag (except of other bags in the PacSafe product line). Security Storage Compartment

Access to the compartment is made by its fully accessible, zippered hinge “U” type lid. The heavy duty, lockable zippers are made to lock to each other. Additional, the zipper pulls, teeth, and track are protected by external snagging by a 1 inch wide zipper cover that surrounds the entire zipper area. Once unzipped, the lid of the bag simply folds back, providing unrestricted access to the security compartment.

The overall inside dimensions of the bag are 20 (L) x 12 (W) x 11 (D) inches.

The key security feature which protects the bags contents is the PacSafe eXomesh security cage, which is permanently affixed to the inside of the bag.

The eXomesh security cage uses a patented technology which is a combination of flexible, high tensile (yet lightweight), 1.5 mm stainless steel cable which is crimped together in order to create a slash-proof core protective cell around the bag’s inner shell. The steel cable which makes up these protective cells is extremely tough and has been tested to have a mean cable strength of approximately 437 lbs (198kg).

The core eXomesh security protective cells are from the bags contents. The steel eXomesh is fused between two layers of a rugged, yet lightweight, weather-proof, next generation nylon laminate, which provides added protection against the elements.

Once items are placed into the bag’s inner eXomesh compartment, the top of the bag has a hidden zippered compartment which is discreetly sewn into the top of the bag. Once unzipped, the PacSafe cable locking security device is exposed.

The unique eXomesh design locking device features a steel reinforced, bullet proof polycarbonate and high tensile, stainless steel draw-wire. This draw wire is a 4 foot long braided steel, laminated cable. This steel cable is securely woven through 14 stainless steel eyelets, which are sewn into the top of the DuffelSafe.

Once an item is placed into the bag’s inner compartment, the security cable is cinched tight, allowing for the 4 foot cable to be locked around an immoveable object.

Once the DuffelSafe’s security system is deployed, it will be virtually impossible to remove items from within the bag without the use of bolt cutters or other demanding tool.

Standard Carry Handles

Securely sewn to each side of the Duffel Safe are a set of heavy duty, full wrap around, Rip-proof twin-handles that are made for superior weight support.

Each of these handles is 27 inch long, by 1½ wide. Each end of the handle is double stitched for 5 inches down each side of the bag and reinforced with “X-stitching.” The two handles are joined together by a soft grip handle padded handle wrap which is secured in place by a 4 ½ in long by 1 inch wide Velcro “Hook & Loop” security strip which secures the handles together. The additional handle padding provides end user comfort when the bag is used to carry heavy items for long periods.

Backpack Harness Option

In an effort to provide additional carry options, each DuffelSafe includes a free three point backpack harness. This fully-adjustable harness attaches to three mounting points on the DuffelSafe. The harness straps are padded to provide additional comfort for the end user. Each of the harness clips are made from a high impact poly carbonate material and have a built in “no-slip” locking feature on each of the clips. This feature reduces the chance of have the carbineer style clips from becoming accidentally unlocked while being worn. The adjustability of the shoulder harness straps ranges from 1 to 13 inches.

Shoulder Bag Carry Option

Each DuffelSafe includes a fully adjustable ergonomic shoulder strap. Additionally, the strap incorporates a 10½ inch long by 3½ inch wide vented shoulder pad. This pad incorporates a “non-slip” ¼ thick padded rubber material that allows for carrying comfort when being carried for long periods. The “non-slip” pad also helps keep the DuffelSafe from sliding off your shoulder.

Large Rubber Haul Handle
This handle is vertically attached for maximum strength while being carried single handedly. The vulcanized rubber handle is form fitted with four finger groves, making it easy to hold on to. The rubber handle is a rugged, one piece 4 ½ inch long tube which is slid over a strong nylon web strap. The nylon strap is then double sewn for 5 inches across both sides of the DuffelSafe for durability. These straps are then double stitched to the DuffelSafe on both sides, and them given an additional cross “X” stitch sew pattern for addition strength. You will appreciate the workmanship and attention to detail PacSafe placed into the bag’s primary “stress points”, especially when used to carry heavy items.

Zippered Easy Access Outer Pocket

On the outside of the Duffel Safe is a full zippered easy access pocket which can be used to store items which you need quick access, but do not require the security of being placed inside the secure duffel bag. The pocket is 5 inches deep by 11 inches wide. It is perfect for maps of other related items. The zipper pull and run are both covered by a 1 inch flap which protects the zipper’s teeth and zipper slider from external snagging.

Zippered Inner Pockets

Inside the DuffleSafe, two zippered security pockets are found (one on each side). The pockets are 6 inches deep by 13 inches wide and expand approximately 2 to 3 inches. These pockets are designed for smaller items that can become easily lost within the DuffelSafe.

Cargo Straps: On the side of the DuffelSafe are a set of six cargo loops. These loops can be used to attach any number of items such as key rings, carabineers, or other items. The loops can also be used in tandem, allowing for three long items to be carried and supported by two loops each. Each loop has an opening of approximately 1 inch.

Identification Window The Duffel Safe has an identification window compartment sewn into the top lid of the bag. The identification window is easily viewed by a 3½ by 2¼ clear vinyl window which is protected by a vulcanized rubber frame. The ID window has a 2½ wide opening which allows for a business card to be slipped into.

Velcro Secure Pads

Sewn into the inside, bottom of the bag are two 4 inch by 7 inch Velcro mounting pads. These pads allow for future owner designed functionally. Some end users use to bag to hold a variety of individual optional modular pouches or compartments that they wish to keep organized. An end user would simply apply Velcro material found at any hardware or fabric store to the bottom of their unique box or item they wished to secure and mount to the bottom of the bag.

Are you a photographer as well? An adjustable, padded Velcro divider set is now available which allows for individual - padded - compartments, which will be held securely by velcro. This divider set is an optional item.
