London has always been a location where pickpockets have had much success with finding victims.
London newspapers recently reported that a family of Bulgarian pickpockets stole more than 100 000 pounds sterling from tube and bus passengers across London . According to the paper, the gang operated out of a rented home in Manor House, north London, which they rented for £1,000-a-month. Law enforcement reported that up to 10 pickpockets lived in the house and used it as a base when they would go out and pickpocket victims around the city. With the money they obtained by pickpocketing London victims, they would transfer it back to Bulgaria to fund property ventures.
To show the sophistication of these London pickpockets, when law enforcement did a search warrant on the pickpocket gang house they found a pickpocket map of the London Tube, which was marked with 'pickpocketing hotspots' including Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush, and other locations where numerous people report being victimized by pickpockets.
