Airhook - An In-Flight Electronic Device and Drink Holder- Hands-Free Viewing

Watch your phone or tablet at eye level and secure your drink too without using the space robbing tray table. The Airhook attaches to your folded-up tray table, turning the seatback in front of you into a viewing station for tablets or phones plus a cup holder.

In-flight Phone/Tablet and Drink Holder, no tray table required

  • slide in your phone or tablet, turn on your movie, without having to hold your device with your hands or figuring out how to prop it up on the tray table
  • slip your soda or drink into the drink holder

Phone or Tablet Viewing Made Easy

The Airhook is a smartphone or tablet viewing mount, letting you perch your mobile device at eye level so you can comfortably view your device hands-free.

  • Adjustable - you can set the perfect angle for your drink or device, or make quick adjustments when the person sitting in front of you decides to recline their seat.
  • Fit's most devices -The Airhook expands so it holds the majority of phones on the market today. The clamp opens to 7.5 inches, so it even accommodates an iPad in landscape mode.

Secure Drink Holder, no Tray Table Required

The Airhook allows your seat back tray to remain in its upright position while holding a drink. Use it two ways to hold beverages.

  •  Drink cup - Drop the drink cup into the cup ring, and the cup's tapered design holds the cup.
  •  Bottle/can - Use the included beverage can/bottle adapter, which easily fits into the top of the Airhock's ring and holds the bottom of the beverage container.

AIRHOOK – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE SUPPORTED?

The Airhook will support all phones and tablets up to 8.5 inches tall (original iPad horizontally) that are 1.5 pounds or less. Using the support bungee and toggle, you can adjust to your preferred device.

The current max device width is just under one inch (20mm to be exact). The cases that we found to be too large were the childproof, thick silicone cases, or those with additional carrying compartments on their backside. In those scenarios, the case may have to be removed once in-flight for best use with The Airhook.

WHAT SIZE CUP/BEVERAGE FITS? CANS?

The design team collected cups from all airlines to create the correct size opening. Enjoy all airline beverages and your coffee from the terminal.

IS THE AIRHOOK FAA-COMPLIANT?

Yes, according to the rules in the current Code of Federal Regulations. Please note, it is very important [and the law] to always comply with airline crew member instructions.

WHAT MATERIAL IS THE AIRHOOK MADE OUT OF?

The Airhook will be manufactured using ABS reinforced plastic. Please note, there are two metal components - a cap nut that is fused to the Airhook base & a screw [molded in the adjustment knob] running through the back of the Airhook to provide optimal pivot support.

ENSURING THAT YOUR BEVERAGE WILL NOT SPILL

Just as if you were using your tray table in the horizontal position, it's best to take a few sips of your beverage first, so the liquid level is not at the brim. Due to the unknown of when the plane may hit turbulence, or the person in-front of you causes some of their own, don't leave a full beverage unattended.

Please take extra caution with hot beverages. Also, if using The Airhook to hold a beverage with a lid, we recommend facing the lid opening towards the tray table to further prevent spills.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY TRAY TABLE IS TOO LOOSE OR BROKEN TO USE THE AIRHOOK?

This is an important question!

After following the steps above, you should NOT be able to freely remove your Airhook from within the tray table. If you find that it simply slides out, your tray table is too old or damaged to anchor The Airhook and unfortunately you can not use it.

DO NOT use your Airhook if you find yourself with the tray table experience shown in the video below.

HOW TO USE THE AIRHOOK WITH TRAY TABLES THAT HAVE UPPER MAGAZINE SUPPORT

Some airline seats are now built with magazine holders behind the tray table vs. the traditional below the tray table (your seat back pocket).

In this scenario, you'll want to position your Airhook as close to the locking mechanism as possible. There is a hard plastic support that runs the length of the magazine holder, which provides the correct leverage for The Airhook to use as an anchor.

USING THE AIRHOOK WITH A CURVED TRAY TABLE

If you find yourself with a curved tray table, place The Airhook as close to center as you can. The closer to the tray table locking mechanism, the better, which is the straightest part of the curve.

USING THE AIRHOOK WITH A DOUBLE FOLDING TRAY TABLE

Due to the double fold, the tray table is too thick to use The Airhook in it's traditional fashion. Instead, push the Airhook's anchor into the middle of the fold as shown below. Then lock your tray table in the vertical position. Please note: since double folding tray tables are so much closer to the ground, it makes the viewing angle difficult to adjust.

USING THE ADDED CAN/BOTTLE SUPPORT COMPONENT

The Airhook comes with an added component that can hold cans and water bottles up to 16 ounces large. To use, simply unfold the Airhook's Can Support component and place within The Airhook's base.

TWO THINGS TO WATCH FOR: 1) The nubs on the can support must align with and be inserted into the holes on The Airhook's body. 2) The longer can support sides are to be hung over the right and left sides.

USING THE ACCESSORY HOOK

Once you have your Airhook angle determined, simply lower the headphones hook to deploy. This can be done at any time during flight (no need to loosen The Airhook, the Accessory Hook should fold right down). From there, hang headphones or light-weight garments.

USING THE AIRHOOK IN EXIT ROW, BULK HEAD, OR FIRST CLASS SEATS

If the seat in front of you does not have a tray table built into the seat, unfortunately, the Airhook will not in these scenarios, as the Airhook does not have anything to be secured to.
